Breeze

Unfinished Cat

On a porch,
With a purring cat,
I have welcomed the spring sun.

Such a cat
Should not be moved
By the call of lesser chores

As I pet,
Her claws dig in;
And I have other thoughts.

From my lap
I must resign her,
Unsettled; but I must go.
